I looked around for an old Blog entry regarding our surprise of a lifetime, finding out that we'd have a boy - I had been certain it would be a girl, had a better name picked out and everything.
As I've only started writing this journal a few months ago, I didn't find one from that September or October 2001 ultrasound day... :-)
Just to keep you in suspense a few moments longer, let me proceed by saying we just found out this week that baby #2 is no longer an 'it' or "little alien" as I liked to call it after viewing the ultrasound pix.
Yep. Just found out that it is now, well, of course it's going to be a little baby, but we wanted to find whether she would wear pink or he would wear blue. And we did find out.
Oh? The details... well, let me paraphrase my wife: Bill, you really are a cheap bastard. Something like that.
Anyway, two tries, two boys in blue, yes it's true!
Yee-haw! It's a boy! I remarked to Kathy that within about 12 hours of finding out we would have a 2nd boy, I was pretty well mentally set and adjusted to the idea. We both thought it would be great to have either a boy or girl, but now I'm convinced two boys will be great!
So, congrats to Kathy, who is having a great pregnancy and doing well as a mom-again-to-be. Congrats to Dad for ensuring we'd be able to re-use clothes and toys (my experiments to re-use diapers notwithstanding).
Ultrasounds and blood tests and more ultrasounds et al. are showing things looking good, and on track for a September 25th delivery. I'm guessing 7pm.
I know, you're worried that I'll miss the Colorado Rapids Major League Soccer game that night. No problem, it's an away game and I've already set Tivo to record!
:-))
Posted by BilFish at April 22, 2004 06:52 AMWell, hopefully, my baby will cooperate on Tuesday, and we'll know the gender!
I met a guy at the Quizno's lunch line on Tuesday that totally reminded me of you. It was a bizarre feeling. Steve, of course, was jealous but I pointed out to him that the young man was just making conversation and not flirting with the obviously pregnant me.
Posted by: Janice at April 22, 2004 10:35 AMWow! Great news! I bet Max is thrilled! So are we all!
Posted by: Aunt Penny at April 22, 2004 12:12 PMSir, you better keep your two boys away from my two girls!
Posted by: JJaser at April 22, 2004 12:16 PMCongrats to everyone! Too bad it wasn't a girl, though - then you could have named her "Mini" to go with "Max". And then, you'd already know which car to buy her on her 16th birthday!
Posted by: Comus at April 22, 2004 05:50 PMCongratulations Kathy and Billy for the news of little "Robert William Fisher". Great name, eh? I'll continue thinking:-) I got another one.. how about "Aiden", a good Irish name. The internet says Aiden means "Fire". And you know what my new career is all about. I think he will need a big, red remote control fire engine to play with. He can borrow Max'!
If all goes well, I will be finishing up 6 months of my 12 months probation as a new Firefighter/Paramedic for the Broward County Sheriff's Office Fire Department and taking my big 6-month exams the last 2 weeks of September. If I do well on all of those, I won't have to repeat any at the 9-month mark.
Now for some personal venting...
Sometimes I can't believe how big men's egos actually are. I am just waking up this Saturday morning and I was put into shock by my first email of the day!
I wrote a paper for a class last year called "Interview with a Leader". The assignment was to interview someone in a leadership role and write about them. I wrote a really good paper and got an A in the class.
Now, the person that I interviewed is taking the same class and he wrote his "Interview with a Leader" paper that I read this morning.
Well, guess what? The person he interviewed was himself! Uhg! He even used the exact words from my essay that really meant something to me.. "The basic principles of leadership that I have discussed correlate directly with the individual philosophies of a great leader and amazing human being that I deeply respect and admire." Then he said... "I interviewed me!" and I almost died when I read it.
WHAT A DUMBASS! Those are the only words that come to my mind right now. Please excuse my French?
