While there aren't a ton of great castles in Ireland (a phrase that sums up most sites in Ireland), there is Ashford Castle on the edge of Cong, north of Galway and on the shores of Lough Corrib (Corrib Lake).
For $25, you can drive onto the grounds to check it out. Just don't go inside, that's reserved for guests. Which you, too, can be for approximately $700 a night for a couple.

Ashford Castle, Cong, Ireland
Hard to see, but the cliché here is a castle, of course, and the fact that it's blowing sheets of rain sideways as we walk the grounds, something that will continue the entire soggy day.
